June 4, 2014-- SIGN UP MEETING SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY THE 12TH. All students interested in playing volleyball in the fall should attend this meeting. All paperwork and information about the summer will be passed out and discussed.
November 4, 2013-- TOWNIES ARE DEALT A CRUEL BLOW AS THEY LOSE IN 5 TO SOUTH KINGSTOWN. The night began in great fashion as EP got off to a quick start and made quick work of the Rebels in game 1, 25-11. The Townies were firing on all cylinders as the service game and attack were running smoothly. Unfortunately, an injury to Kaitlyn Bellamy in game 2 with EP up 17-11, derailed the team for game 2 and the Townies could never get back to consistent play. While the team team didn't reach their ultimate goal, there were so many improvements made as a team and individually this season. This marks the final game for seniors Kaitlyn Bellamy and Logan Fontes. Many thanks to the girls for their dedication to the program and for representing the school and our community in a positive manner.
October 30th, 2013-- TOWNIES TO PLAY SOUTH KINGSTOWN AT HOME IN THE RI STATE QUARTERFINALS. EP will take on the Rebels on Monday, November 4th at 6:30. EP was beaten by SK in the regular season, 3-1.
October 29, 2013-- EP BEATS PONAGANSET ON SENIOR NIGHT 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-9). It wasn't a memorable match for the Townies as the team went through the motions to close out the regular season. The team didn't play the type of volleyball that is needed to win in the playoffs. Seniors Logan Fontes and Kaitlyn Bellamy played their last regular season home game. With the win EP secures the #2 seed from the North and will host a Quarterfinal match. The date and opponent has yet to be determined. Check back for the latest info.
October 24, 2013-- TOWNIES SPIKE BAY VIEW 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-20). EP wasted no time jumping on the Bengals quick building double digit leads early. Logan Fontes continued her solid play with a match high 13 kills, three blocks and3 aces. Cassia Spivey was everywhere keeping the setters in rhythm to be aggressive attacking. She finished with 20 assists, 10 digs and four aces. The Townie JV team won their match 2-0. They will play in the JV State Championship this Saturday at Mount St. Charles, beginning at 9 am.
October 22, 2013-- TOWNIES TAKE DOWN MOUNT, 3-1 (25-23, 26-28, 25-20, 25-16). This is the first of three key games down the stretch for EP. With each game the team wants to be gaining momentum towards the playoffs. The three game stretch started with a big road win and hopefully a boost in confidence. Cassia Spivey and Logan Fontes led the Townies with big games. Cassia had 39 assists, 10 digs and 4 aces and Logan added 15 kills with a .750 hitting percentage, and also added 3 aces and 2 digs. The Townie JV team lost their match 2-1. EP will play Thursday at home against Bay View
October 18th, 2013-- CLASSICAL SWEEPS AWAY EP, 3-0. Quite simply, Classical was the better team. The Purple played at a high level as they showed that they will be a team to watch come playoff time. EP didn't play poorly, Classical was just better. Classical used their service game to take away EP's offense and then got soft hits or free balls to run a varied offense back at the Townies. The Townie JV team won their match 2-0. EP will travel to Mount Saint Charles on Tuesday. Game times are 4;45 and 6:30.
October 16th, 2013-- EP ALMOST GIVES THE MATCH AWAY AGAINST LASALLE, WINS 3-2. (25-23, 22-25, 26-28, 25-20, 15-13. Every match is important down the stretch and the Townies didn't play like a team hungry for the win and with a sense of urgency. EP had 19 service errors to go along with 45 ball handling/hitting/blocking errors. That is far too many points to give teams. Cassia Spivey had a monster night with 35 assists, 11 digs, 3 aces and 2 kills. Casey Traverse had a game high 24 digs. The Townie JV team won their match 2-1. EP will travel to Classical on Friday night.
October 9th, 2013-- TOWNIES CAN'T TAKE DOWN COVENTRY, LOSE IN 3 (25-21, 25-19, 25-14)
The Townies lost to undefeated Coventry after playing some of their best volleyball of the season in games 1 and 2. Kailtyn Bellamy continued her solid play with a team high 9 kills, 4 aces and 9 digs.
October 7th, 2013-- EP TAKES DOWN CHARIHO 3-0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-11). See Coach Butler's blog for the game write up.
October 2nd, 2013-- TOWNIES TOPPLE TOLL GATE, 3-1 (25-11, 25-14, 20-25, 25-13). October is here and its time for the Townies to start playing their brand of volleyball. The team has been working hard to be consistent and make the smart plays. In games 1 and 2 it showed up, in game 3 the errors and lack of focus returned. Game 4 saw the Townies serve Toll Gate off the court. Seniors Logan Fontes (13 kills) and Kaitlyn Bellamy (9 kills) led the offense. Cassia Spivey had a season high 35 assists and added 4 aces. The Townie JV team won their match 2-0. Both teams travel to South Kingstown on Friday. Game times are 4:45 and 6:30.
Sept. 26th, 2013-- EP PLAYS A SOLID ALL AROUND MATCH, BEATS PROUT 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-9). The Townies played a clean match as they limited service and receive errors and played a smart game with their attack. The team picked a good time to play their best volleyball of the season as Prout is a veteran team with good size. It was a team effort and a much deserved win for the team.
Sept. 24th, 2013-- TOWNIES START FAST, BUT CAN'T SLOW DOWN THE SKIPPERS, LOSE 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 14-25, 19-25.) EP showed in game one that they have the potential to play consistent and clean volleyball. The question is how long will it take before the team can repeat that play in an entire match.
The Townies limited serving and passing errors in game 1, games 2-4 saw the team revert back to inconsistent play. NK served EP off the floor in game 3 and had the team reeling in game 4. Brianna Allienello, Cassia Spivey and Casey Traverse turned in solid performances for the Townies.
Sept. 24th, 2013-- 9TH/10TH TOURNAMENT SITE CHANGE. The 9th/10th Tournament which was scheduled to be held this Saturday, 28th, at EP will now be played at Mt. Hope HS. The tournament will begin at 9 am.
Sept. 20th, 2013-- EP TRAVELS TO PONAGANSET AND WINS IN 3 (25-19, 25-20, 25-12). The Townies picked up a much needed win as the team works towards consistent play in all phases of the game. The third game saw EP play their most consistent volleyball of the season with smart plays and timely hitting. EP will return to action on Tuesday night at North Kingstown. Game times are 4:45 and 6:30.
Sept, 17th, 2013-- TOWNIES CONTINUE TO STRUGGLE WITH KEY POINTS AND SERVICE ERRORS, LOSE TO MOUNT 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 26-24). After a horrific start the team began to play more consistent volleyball with less lapses in focus and execution. Unfortunately the team couldn't earn they key turning points in each game.
Sept, 13th, 2013-- TOWNIES LOSE AT BAY VIEW IN 5 GAMES. The team continues to have problems playing consistent volleyball as serving and passing errors are preventing the team from gaining any type of rhythm. These types of matches will continue to be played until those areas are cleaned up and the team can find a consistent attack off of the defense and passing.
Sept 9th, 2013-- EP GETS TO 2-0, COMES FROM BEHIND TO BEAT CLASSICAL 3-2 (25-16, 19-25, 26-28, 25-22, 15-10). The Townies overcame 17 service errors and numerous passing errors to win the match. It wasn't pretty but the team found a way to earn the win. Logan Fontes and Kaitlyn Bellamy led the way with a combined 19 kills. With the win the team moves to 2-0 in Div 1 North.
Sept 5th, 2013-- TOWNIES OPEN SEASON WITH A WIN AT LASALLE, 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21). It's early in the season and the play on the court showed it. EP played up and down for the entire match. There were stretches of solid play and stretches of careless serving and passing errors. This team is young and inexperienced and will have to work hard to find consistent play. The Townie JV team opened up their 2013 campaign with a 2-1 loss. Both teams return to action on Monday at home against Classical. This will be the first contest in the re-furbished gym. Come out to see the Townies and how beautiful the "new" gym looks.
Aug 29th, 2013-- TOWNIES OPEN SEASON WITH THE INJURY FUND MATCH AT BARRINGTON. After almost two weeks of preseason work the 2013 edition of Townie Volleyball is ready to get to work. The JV team will play at 4:15 and the varsity will play at 6. The regular season schedule will begin next Thursday at LaSalle.
