Boys Outdoor Track & Field: Williams, Moura, And Rambert Place At RI State Championship Meet
Sophomore Ryan Williams earned 2nd Team All-State honors by finishing second in the 200 Meter with a season best time of 22.49 at the RI State Track Championship Meet. The meet was held Sunday June 3, 2012 at Brown Stadium. Williams also placed fourth in the 100 Meter capping an impressive season against Rhode Island's top competitors. Junior Chris Moura continued his successful season by placing fourth in the Long Jump. Junior Josh Rambert ran a season best 40.93 and placed fifth in the 300 Intermediate hurdles. By placing in the top six Williams, Moura, and Rambert all earned births in next week's New England Championship meet. The New England's will be held Saturday June 9, 2012 in Sacco, Maine. The Townies also registered top ten finishes in the meet by; Chris Moura, seventh in the Triple Jump, Trystan Casey, eighth in the Triple Jump, the 4x100 Meter Relay team consisting of Chris Moura, Josh Rambert, Trystan Casey, and Ryan Williams who ran a season best 44.74 and placed seventh, Jay Andrade who ran a season best 2:00.83 and placed tenth, and Justin Pelletier who placed eighth in the High Jump. The Townies finished eleventh in the team totals and return all but three members from this year's team. All of the team members who earned births in the State Meet return next year. The future looks extremely bright for the Townies as they look to contend for next year's team championship and their ultimate team goal of bringing the first team championship back to East Providence since 1997..
