Boys Outdoor Track & Field: Casey Is Freshman Triple Jump King As Townies Finish Impressive 6th At Freshman State Championship
Trystan Casey and Justin Pelletier continued their successful first seasons as members of the Boys Outdoor Track & Field team. Casey was the Townies lone champion, winning the Triple Jump with an impressive jump of 39'-3.25". Trystan also placed third in both the Long Jump and 100 Meter Dash and fifth in the 200 Meter. As a result of his performance Trystan took home a gold medal, two bronze medals and a fifth place medal. Justin Pelletier also had a successful day, taking home bronze medals for third place finishes in both the High Jump and 110 Meter High Hurdles. Although Justin ran the fourth fastest time in the 100 Meter Dash on the day, he did not make the final due to the meet rules in which only the top three from each semi-final heat reached the 100 Meter final, (Justin finished fourth in his heat). Other performance of note were turned in by Ryan Galvao and Marquis Jenkins who ran personal bests in the 1500 Meter and Dante Washington who ran personal bests in both the 100 Meter and 200 Meter. All of the freshman along with the entire varsity squad will return to action on Saturday May 26, 2012 when they participate in the final State Meet Qualifier of the season, the Hendricken Invitational. The Hendricken Invitational will be held at Bishop Hendricken and start at 10:00 am
